New Community Project is a small organization with a big goal - to change the world by changing the way we relate to the planet and its people. We offer resources that challenge us, experiences that change us, and a community that gives us hope whether its through workshops on sustainable living or learning about gender inequity around the globe. We are among many affiliated sites of NCP around the US working to advance the ethics of earth care, people care, and fair share.
The Horn Farm Center is a leader in regenerative agriculture by connecting soil, food, and people in ways that improve the health and resilience of their community. They demonstrate holistic management practices that provide ecological and economic benefits while producing food. They are a farm incubator and training program, offer classes from no-till gardening to foraging, and community garden space.
Urban Edge Farm is located within the city limits of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in a forgotten neighborhood called Sunnyside. The farm has been granted Lancaster City’s first ever “Community Gardening” zoning variance. The farm is in the floodplain of the Conestoga River. The focus of the farm is on agroforestry techniques, such as forest gardening with native riparian tree crops, edible and medicinal mushroom cultivation, biochar and compost production, beekeeping, experimentation with regenerative forestry techniques, as well as production of medicinal herbs for use by Susquehanna Apothecary, and food for our CSA program.
